CHAIRMANS STATEMENT

Football friends,

In this somewhat special time, I want to commend the remarkable work that our volunteers and employees do on a daily basis, but also the unwavering support of our team sponsors. As grassroot football restarts and gets back to some kind of normality, we will be keen to leave behind the very special 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons.

The committee and team managers will  continue to keep this club alive by welcoming more than 200 players in the best conditions at the start of the school year.

We will continue to train our coaches and instil in our children the best of sport: competition, of course, but also respect and sharing.

Our ambitions will be clear, with, in particular, the step up in the league for our seniors, We will challenge our youngest to go as far as possible. Women's football, for its part, will still form an important part in our development strategy.

Attention will also be paid to our communication and our image with the establishment of a new website for better visibility and understanding of all in addition to increased presence on social networks.

Next year will also be the occasion to celebrate 30th + 31st years of exchange with the French club US Gasny, an important moment in the history of the club.

To all of you, look forward to meeting you at the edge of the field, in good health and humour, values which characterise the family feel of Castle Donington FC

Sportingly,

Richard Astle-Burgoyne, Castle Donington FC Chairman

CLUB HISTORY

Founded In 1977

Castle Donington Junior Football Club began in 1977 and was the first club to provide junior league football for the village. It began when villager George Smith noticed whilst at work that local Castle Donington boys were playing on the Slack and Parr football pitch, for Kegworth Imps. He felt it was a shame that local boys couldn’t play in and for their own village.

He placed an advert in the NuNews local paper for volunteers to start a team, first time round he found Keith Lycette, second time he found Alan Morgan, who is still a big part of the football club today. The first team to represent CDFC entered the Derby City League which then generated more interest and more teams of different age groups started to form.

The club was proud to receive FA Community status in 2004 by the Football Association. This is the pinnacle of levels that the club can reach. It is awarded to clubs that have a high quality, multi team (minimum of 10 teams) set up with excellent social, training and playing opportunities for all.

Castle Donington FC, after renaming following the successful development of the senior teams, also won the award for Top Charter Standard Club in 2006.

Another area where the club have developed is to deliver high quality coaching via the in house Academy for players in the U7-U10 age groups. All managers are encouraged to develop their coaching standards with all holding a minimum FA Level 1 coaching qualification.

In 2020 the club reached the 30 year Anniversary of twinning with our friends from US Gasny Football Club in France, an event that is celebrated in Castle Donington and Gasny with a friendly football tournament every year.
